Rubin "Rube" Lacey was born in 1901 at Pelahatchie, Mississippi.  An older performer called George Hendrix taught Lacey to play the guitar in his teens and he was soon to become one of the states most popular blues singers.  His style of bottleneck guitar inspired artists such as Son House.  He recorded four songs in Memphis for Columbia Records in 1927 and two furhter songs for Paramount Records in 1928.  Around 1932 Rubin Lacey became a minister.  Blues researcher David Evans discovered that Lacey was living in Lancaster, California.
