Big BIll Broonzy was an American blues singer and guitarist.  His began his career playing country music but in the 30s and 40s he made the transition to a urban blues sound.  He emerged as one of the main figures in the folk music revival when he return to his folk-blues roots in the 50s.  His long career has firmly established him as a strong player in the development of blues music.
