Lonnie Johnson (Alonzo Johnson) was born in New Orleans on February 8, 1899. He was a blues singer and guitarist as well as being an accomplised jazz guitarist. He is known for being the first to play single-string guitar solos and is one of the few black blues musicians to guest feature on a number of jazz recording sessions. He died at the age of 71 on June 16, 1970.
