Frank Stokes was born in Whitehaven, Tennessee on Janyaru 1, 1988. He began playing around 1900 in Memphis and became one of the most popular performers. He was considered by many as the father of the Memphis blues guitar style. He recorded thirty-six sides for two labels between 1927 and 1929 unsually accompanied by Dan Sane. His best know song is "Crump Don't Low it". He died in Memphis on September 12, 1955.
